Andrew Cream new release titled "Self Portrait" out now!
June 15, 2016
Tour life is infectious. If it gets you early it becomes an itch you just can't scratch. Andrew Cream found this out from the age of 15, back when a lot of people were still defining their dreams; Andrew was out there living it.
'We were called The Ruined - you may have heard of us!' Andrew exclaims. The coming together of members of various Peterborough bands, The Ruined and a young Andrew cut their teeth with shows across the UK and mainland Europe.
Unfortunately good things don't always last and The Ruined peaked too early. However, Andrew still had a fire in his belly and whilst at University in Manchester found himself braving it alone. 'I hated it at first as it was so nerve-wracking and I wondered why I kept putting myself through it, but after a couple of UK tours I found my feet and have been going at it ever since'
His relentless touring and singable poppy-punk sing along's, melodies have served him well thus far, even earning him at the prestigious Florida festival - The Fest last year. 'It was my first time playing and my fourth time going, so I was really excited to play. I played at a venue called The Lunchbox and I was first on the Saturday so I was very tired, nervous and hungover.' However, he clearly made an impression as he has been invited back once again this year joining the likes of Tim Barry, Jeff Rosenstock, Propagandhi and The Menzingers.
Now Andrew Cream is gearing up to release his first full-length album. 'Self Portrait' is a collection of 8 songs that combine punk roots, acoustic artistry and pop-led hooks to great effect.. It's hard not to not get caught up singing along to each chorus after just one listen and that's testament enough to Andrew's practised and polished songwriting; in other words, it's infectious.
The first single 'The Final Straw' was premiered by Punktastic and is about 'confronting your demons, trying to grow up and making sure you don’t sabotage your relationships'. You can listen to and share the track for yourself here.
'Self-Portrait' by Andrew Cream is out now on Andrew's own label 'Scene Better Days' Records.
