Deforesters announce new album ‘Leonard,” streaming new song
January 14, 2017
Toronto punk act, Deforesters will release their debut LP Leonard on February 25, 2017 through Black Numbers.
They are streaming a new song called “What Do You Want On Your Tombstone?” HERE.
Here's that the band had to say about Leonard:
"We recorded it at Drive Studios with Steve Rizun (Flatliners, Junior Battles, Creepshow, Success). We recorded the album in a few big chunks followed by lots of piecemeal days to finish stuff up. Musically I would say we want to achieve the following: finely tuned pop songs played through a modern punk aesthetic and sensibility with nods to classic punk rock like the Ramones, Dead Kennedys and Buzzcocks as well as a wide array of outside influences like classic rock and pop, folk, country, Tin Pan Alley and traditional heavy metal. I would describe lyrical themes as the inevitability of both change and stagnation, ennui, the difficulty of maintaining meaningful relationships, the feeling of isolation and invisibility one experiences in large urban centres and self-deprecation ."
Deforesters will release their debut album Leonard on February 25. 2017 through Black Numbers. It will serve as a follow-up to their 2016 self-titled EP.

The band features Kris on lead guitar and vocals, Shawn (The Roman Line / Plan 37) on rhythm guitar and vocals, Pod (The Roman Line) on lead vocals and bass and Zack (PUP) on drums and vocals. Deforestors formed in 2013 and released their debut EP “Bones” on vinyl through Get Party Records. Over the years, they’ve played Gainesville’s “The Fest” and Montreal’s “Pouzza Fest.” In 2015, they released a self-titled EP through Black Numbers. The EP was produced by Steve Rizun (The Flatliners, The Penske File, Success) In 2017, they will release their debut full-length album on February 25th and play as many shows as they can.
